Did you know that pearls are the only gemstones produced by living organisms, according to the International Gem Society? They are made organically within various freshwater and saltwater mollusks, such as oysters. Pearls have been associated with wealth, wisdom, and feminine qualities for millennia.
The most common pearl colour is creamy white, whith some rare exceptions. However, natural pearls can be dyed with different techniques, and the nacre layers inside the pearl absorbs the dye, creating the desired color over time.
